About my traffic utility box design:

“Untitled”

Original Medium: Gouache on wood panels

This last year was the beginning of Morelovelovemore.com which began with creating masks for the Covid19 pandemic. Within two weeks of the release of the Lovebird mask online, GQ magazine picked up the mask and ran a story on my work. While the initial hope for the masks was to transform my drawing and paintings into a symbol of love and good luck through the tattooed, embroidered cloth, I quickly realized that post-pandemic, my masks would symbolize the concomitant struggle for racial justice that grew to unprecedented heights during the pandemic. My masks - and indeed my work for The Billboard Creative (TBC) and Capital Box Art Project through the California Arts Council - will embody this ethos - an ethos of care - creating both a democratic approach to contemporary art making, and offering a vibrant backdrop for a community that recognizes the need for artistic expression now more than ever.
