About my traffic utility box design:
“Garden with Birds”
Original Medium: Colored pencil drawings, photography & digital Media
I wanted to create something that represented our area and call attention to nature around us; a contrast to the city buildings at the site. Linda Hall, a friend and local bird photographer, allowed me to use her photographs of birds as resource for my design. The resulting bird drawings in colored pencil became a series called "Feathered Friends”, and also is the basis for this utility box. The birds featured on the box are a House Finch, Anna’s Hummingbird, Bluebird, Starling, Cedar Waxwing, Yellow-rumped Warbler, two Goldfinches, and two Robins. All the birds depicted are birds that live in our area. The tree branches are from trees in my neighborhood.
