Linda Paris

Hello, my name is Linda Paris. I am an artist who paints in oils, water colors, experiments digitally, likes to take photos of nature and weird things, creates mixed media/mixed process pieces, writes, and recently delved into the world of creating paper collage works.

I am inspired by the unpredictable, the unusual, and the incongruities of nature and living things.

I am a storyteller.

Every piece has a story behind it. In some pieces, the narrative is subtle while in other works it is more apparent. The subject matter is whatever inspires me at the moment. I follow this inspirational randomness where it leads. I work in a variety of mediums depending on what the series dictates and the story it has inspired.

About my traffic utility box design:

“Day in the City”

Original Medium: Paper collage and dry pastel (The 4 collages, 1/3 scale of box are for sale)

The original idea of the collages was “art about art," however the four pieces made for the utility box morphed into art is everywhere. For example art is found on walls of buildings, in toy stores, science museums, zoos, theaters, and on Utility Boxes in Sacramento.

My goal with this Utility Box was to add a little whimsy and delight to someone driving or walking by. There are a few subtle references to old movies made mid twentieth century. The story, on one side of the box, is written by a local author, Virginia V. Kidd.
