Kerri Warner

Hello, my name is Kerri Warner, I am mixed media artist based in Northern, California.

I am best known for my mixed media collages that utilize book pages and other printed papers, capturing moments in time. These collages sit atop raised textured backgrounds highlighted with acrylic paint. The majority of my public artwork mixes watercolor, colored pencil and digital painting which is then printed on vinyl.

About my traffic utility box design:

“Dance”

Original Medium: Water color, colored pencil, digital painting

In 2014 I was commissioned to do artwork for this same box. The original work depicted an old man playing Cello (see below) and on the other side of the box a young girl listening to music on headphones. As you walked around the box you could see that the headphones were not plugged in to anything, they were wrapped around the chair of the Cellist. The concept for this original box was to highlight the arts in Sacramento and to encourage people to attend live events at the Convention Center that is located on the same block.

When I found out that the box I was commissioned to do in 2021 was the same box, I wanted to continue the theme of celebrating the arts and utilize the same background I had done for the first artwork. I thought it would be fun to have people who were used to passing by the box see the same background with different characters, giving the impression that the Cellist and the girl had walked away and a group of dancers had inhabited the space.
