Shaina Lamb

My name is Shaina Lamb, I’m an abstract painter based in Sacramento.

Born and raised in Texas, from a young age I was always fascinated with art.  Whenever I would look at any art piece, I would always ask myself, “What was the artist thinking or trying to convey?” Fast forward to my Freshman year of college where I minored in art.  At that time my thought was college is hard enough (Biology was my major) and I wanted something I could enjoy during rigorous daily studies; hence art became my muse.  I learned a great deal from my college art instructors; depth, range, color palette and collage and so much more.

When creating, although most pieces have a meaning behind their creation, I always loved the idea of seeing what others saw in my pieces, which is where my love for abstract art came to fruition.  I love when my viewers ask, “What was your inspiration behind this piece?”  Sure, I can do portraits and landscapes or figures and still life, however; abstract paintings allow the mind to fully wander beyond what you can see with your eye.  It allows the mind to bend reality of the unknown to see something truly uniquely beautiful.

About my traffic utility box design:

“Melted”

Original medium: Melted crayon on canvas

When I went to go look at the location, I knew I wanted to do something that would brighten up the corner (very dull/dark). With everything going on in the world, I wanted anyone to be able to walk past my design and feel sense of euphoria; each side meant to be uniquely different in it's own way.
