Lee McCormick

Hello my name is Lee McCormick AKA “Leecasso” and I am based in Elk Grove, CA.

I am originally from the Bay Area and grew up in Richmond, California. I am a graphic and visual artist, muralist, painter and also a designer. Another passion of mine involves online marketing. I am mostly inspired by beautiful things like amazing looking women and exotic places, but I also love diving deep into historical content as well and have several works relating to those type of topics, specifically black history and the injustices which have taken place over time.

When people see my art I really hope they receive the same energy back that I put into creating each piece, and can appreciate the time I spent on the details which in some cases can take literally months and sometimes even years to be honest! Over the past few years I have been working with a professional model/ actress as my muse and have painted her in different ways including a 5 painting series I did to pay tribute to the late entertainer Josephine Baker, and she is also the muse that I used to recreate the ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti. The model’s name is Elise Evans, who is also from the Bay area and it was her likeness that will soon be seen on the corner of the 16th and Capitol in downtown Sacramento as part of the CADA box art.

About my traffic utility box design:

“Queen N* She is Ours”

Original Medium: Mixed medium, oil, acrylic, gold leaf and enamel

I wanted to display something that would represent my culture in a dignified way, and to inspire not only the people of color who could rightfully feel proud every time they pass by but also to share with and enlighten those who may not be aware of our rich ancestry.

So I felt compelled to paint her “Nefertiti” like I believe she would have appeared like I really cannot wait to see how viewers feel and if they feel like I did the Queen justice. Also included in this work is her son Tutankhamun and her husband Akhenaten, and other hieroglyphics and replicated Egyptian paintings. I just really hope that it will bring more light to our significant contributions to history and to the arts worldwide.
